Danny Sanchez, Founder, Executive Director

Pastor Danny Sanchez is first a husband and dad. He and his wife, Abby, have a blended family. They are privileged to have five kids, which include two adult children, one teenager and two little ones.

Danny is the founder of The City Peace Project and volunteers as the Lead Chaplain for the City of San Jose Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force.  Because of his personal story of the dangers of the gang lifestyle, Danny has a passion to reach high-risk youth and give them a hope for their future. As a Chaplain, Danny meets with families after gang-related homicides. In times of high tension, Danny brings a presence of peace into gang hot spots. He comforts families who are dealing with trauma and loss, arranges hot meals, and connects them with funeral services and other resources.

As part of The Hospital Intervention branch of the program, Danny meets with youth victims at the most crucial times, following gang-related injuries. He volunteers at public high schools throughout San Jose mentoring and encouraging students to stay on track and redirects them out of the gang lifestyle.

Most weekdays you can find Danny playing handball, and encouraging at-risk youth to see their potential by taking them on educational tours to tech companies such as Apple, Google, Yahoo and VMware. He works at mobilizing local churches to take active communal roles. He has a heart to see this city transformed into a loving community. He strongly believes that we should never give up hope on our next generation.
