TCPP provides personal mentorship that emphasizes essential disciplinary skills, fosters consistent accountability, and instills character defining values in youth. Through personal mentorship, TCPP promotes life altering values and skills that equip students to cultivate lives marked by love and peace.
We empower students to thrive in their communities as well-rounded individuals. As positive mentors, we advise students and provide case management services on a needs basis. Our goal is to see improvement in attendance, punctuality, active class engagement, and behavioral self-management on campus and at home.
We hold regular on-campus meetings with students to develop healthy habits, learn conflict resolution and other life skills. In varying group sizes, we address common issues that keep struggling students from succeeding and provide motivational coaching to positively modify behavior and inspire youth to succeed in all aspects of life. By creating a safe and caring environment to guide and encourage youth, The City Peace Project can have breakthrough transformations in the lives of students.
We offer support based on school needs. Staff members sit with and support students who are having a hard time adjusting or going to class. We offer in-class academic support and tutoring for homework. We assist as mentors for students being sent to the office because of behavior issues or personal challenges. We offer incentives for good behavior and active peacemaking on campus to help keep students on track We can provide educational trips such as tours to Silicon Valley tech companies, government agencies, or other career-focused outings as well as relationship-building, pro-social events including recreational or outdoor activities.
The City Peace Project’s Social & Emotional Learning curriculum serves as a guide to life for students facing social, emotional, and personal challenges. Over the course of our SEL groups, we help students develop healthy habits and a positive mindset toward their education, interact appropriately and respectfully with peers and authority figures, and gain a greater understanding of self-identity. Our goal is to give students the tools they need to become socially responsible and emotionally healthy.
The City Peace Project invests in all areas of the community. We connect with families that have been struggling to support their students and provide services to help equip them for success. Our goal is to holistically support families in any way we can to support healthy and safe environments for students.
TCPP engages students by taking them on tech tours to companies, such as Apple, Yahoo, VMware and Google.
Tutoring With The City Peace Project
Mentoring, coaching, and cheer-leading are a few roles volunteer tutors play while influencing students for good. By coming alongside scholars, and their teachers and parents, tutors are an added resource to help identify and find ways to bridge the gaps blocking scholars from greater success.
Although the aim is to nurture a love for learning and the confidence that comes with it, our great desire is to help scholars become good role models, hard workers, and peacemakers, both inside and out of the classroom.
